He came to Edgewood College in 1973 as the physical education instructor and head men’s basketball coach. In 1974, he became the Director of Athletics and chairmen of the physical education departments. He also taught physical education for the campus school and coached their football, basketball, softball, and volleyball teams. As Edgewood’s men’s basketball coach he led the Eagles’ in 1976-77 to their first ever Wisconsin Conference of Independent Colleges (WCIC) championship with a record of 13-1. The next year the Eagles were champions again with an 11-1 WCIC conference record.
