The members of the 1994-95 women’s tennis team were the core of players who won six Lake Michigan Conference titles in a seven year period from 1991-97, including four straight titles from 1994-97. The 1994-95 team, coached by Hall of Fame member Stu Schaefer, posted a 9-2 record, and claimed five titles at the Lake Michigan Conference Championships. Liz Dobbs, Frauke Sander and Jill Wiench each won singles titles while partners Dobbs-Katy (Kneeland) Clancy and Sander-Stephany (Schill) Hartman won doubles titles. Those players and teammates Sarah (Townsend) Davis and Dawn (Roderick) Goltz then competed in the 1995 NAIA National Tournament in Tulsa, Oklahoma, becoming the first Edgewood College women’s team to reach an NAIA or NCAA National Championship event.
