The Edgewood University Strength & Conditioning department works closely with our sports medicine staff to help provide a fully dynamic and comprehensive sports training experience for each student-athlete. We provide the tools and education to ensure each athlete can improve their overall strength, flexibility, mobility, and recovery through the use of advanced equipment and technology.
Our 18 varsity sports teams receive this guidance through close collaboration with each specific head coach, developing year-round periodization training that targets each segment of the teams training calendar.

What is a Functional Movement Screen?
Functional Movement Screen (FMS) is a system that is used to evaluate movement patterns during exercises for athletes. FMS is composed of seven fundamental movement patterns that require mobility and stability. It provides the strength and conditioning coach the tools to assist athletes on finding where their weaknesses are and improving those weaknesses. If these weaknesses continue, then poor movement patterns will be reinforced leading to poor biomechanics and increased likelihood of injury. with this tool, strength and conditioning coaches can improve the strength and mobility of athletes, overall leading to improvements in performance.
