APPLETON, Wis. – The Eagles split a pair of matches and put an end to a six game losing streak at the Lawrence University Triangular on Saturday.

The Edgewood College volleyball team (6-21) made it a very close four-set match with Lake Forest College (6-17), but couldn't pull out a victory falling (25-21, 14-25, 25-22, 25-21). The Eagles showed great character in their second game by bouncing back and edging out the host team by going the maximum five games to earn the win (21-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-21, 15-13).

In the first match, Kim Paskey and Aryn Wellnitz each recorded double-digit kills, but the Eagles collectively hit just .099 (48 K, 33 E, 152 TA) in the four sets. All season, Edgewood College has had difficulty in putting teams away in during sets in which they hold a substantial lead. The second against the Foresters was clearly their best. The Eagles took the set by nine puts and hit .167 while making a match-low seven errors.

Hannah Williams handed out 38 assists and Wellnitz and Kim Lueck were able to record 16 and 15 digs, respectively. The second match of the day immediately followed the first and provided a much better result.

Edgewood College snapped its second lengthy losing streak of the season and an 11-match losing streak to Lawrence University, dating back to 1996, by defeating the host Vikings (3-22) in dramatic fashion.

The Eagles stormed back from two sets down and hit .241 while tallying 10 kills in the 15-13 fifth set victory to get the hard-earned win.

Paskey added 13 more kills as she was the only Eagle in double figures and blocked six total attacks after recording five vs. Lake Forest. Only Ashley Averkamp had more with seven blocks against Lawrence. Abbi Schultz had nine kills and hit .240 with six blocks in the win as well.

Edgewood College will travel to Marian University on Tuesday for its final road match of the year before returning home for a pair of matches to close out the regular season.
