STURTEVANT, Wis. – The Edgewood University women's golf team opened their 2025-26 campaign at the Ives Grove Firebird Fall Classic hosted by Carthage College. Grace Schomin impressed in her first collegiate tournament. The Eagles finished in a tie for 16th place.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Grace Schomin was firing on all cylinders in her first collegiate outing, carding a 169 to lead the Eagles squad. Schomin opened the tournament with an 85 that featured two birdies. The freshman closed out round two with an 84 to finish in a tie for 46th place. Schomin's 36-hole score goes down among the top-10 posted marks in program history.
- Kendall Kafar was a steady presence for the Eagles. The sophomore saw a three-stroke improvement in round two and carded a career-best 36-hole score of 177. Kafar placed 63rd in the tournament.
- Madison Najar opened her freshman campaign with a 196 for the Eagles. Najar's best round came on Friday, a 96.
- Lilly Sachtjen posted a 214 for the Eagles across the tournament. Sachtjen improved by two strokes on Saturday to card a 106.
- Kamryn Ibinger picked up where she left off last spring, carding a career-low 18-hole score on Friday, a 107. Ibinger combined for a 216, another career-low for the senior.
THE TOURNAMENT
- Aurora University carded a two-round score of 572 (+31) to win the tournament.
- Thanpimol Tharpanawongwech of Aurora won medalist honors with a five-over par 142.
