ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Freshman Grace Schomin led the Edgewood University women's golf team at the Viking Invitational, hosted by Augustana. Schomin finished in a tie for ninth place. Kendall Kafar and Lilly Sachtjen recorded career-best 36-hole scores for the Eagles in their season finale. The Eagles team score of 725 put them in eighth place in the meet. The 36-hole score is their best of the 2025-26 season and second-best in program history.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Schomin opened the meet with an 84 on Saturday. The freshman improved three spots on the leaderboard on Sunday, carding an 80. Schomin's Sunday round featured seven pars and two birdies.
- Kafar was next in line for the Eagles, carding a career-best 36-hole score of 175. Kafar's best round came on Sunday, an 83 that featured eight pars and a birdie on hole eight. The sophomore finished in 23rd place.
- Madison Najar tied her career-best 36-hole mark of 191 for the Eagles. Najar's best round of 95 came on Sunday.
- Sachtjen added another career-best mark for the Eagles, breaking 200 for the first time as an Eagle and claiming a 195 to finish in 40th place. Sachtjen put together rounds of 99 and 96 in the meet.
- Hannah Hegland rounded out the Eagles lineup with a 220. Hegland's best day came on Saturday, a 107.
THE MEET
- Host Augustana claimed the team title with a 636. The Vikings carded rounds of 323 and 313 to win the meet. UW-Platteville finished runner up with a team score of 667.
- Aubreye Hyatt of DuPage claimed medalist honors with an 11 over-par 155. Hyatt carded a 79 in round one and finished out with a four over-par 76.
