ASBURY, Iowa – The Edgewood University women's golf team competed in their first 36-hole tournament of the 2026 spring season on Sunday and Monday. The Eagles competed with five teams at the Loras Spring Invitational held at The Meadows Golf Club. Edgewood University finished third in the event with a two-round score of 826.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Grace Schomin opened play on Sunday carding a 100. The freshman improved to a 94 on day two to claim a 15th place finish.
- Kendall Kafar posted a 198 across two rounds to finish in 18th place. Kafar was the picture of consistency, carding a 99 on both days of the tournament.
- Madison Najar carded a 209 to finish in a tie for 21st place. Najar's best round of 103 came on Monday.
- Lilly Sachtjen and Hannah Hegland rounded out the Eagles lineup. Sachtjen carded a 227, while Hegland finished with a 236.
THE MEET
- Dubuque took home the team title with a total score of 655. The Spartans led host Loras by 83 strokes.
- Leah Balsbaugh of Dubuque took home medalist honors carding a 14-over par 158. Balsbaugh put together rounds of 82 and 76.
UP NEXT
- Edgewood University will compete at the UW-Whitewater Spring Invite on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18. Action will take place from Riverside G.C. in Whitewater, Wis.
