NACC Women's Basketball Quarterfinal Preview

MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team will host Concordia University Wisconsin in the NACC Women's Basketball Tournament Quarterfinal on Wednesday night. The Eagles are the third-seed in the tournament, while Concordia Wisconsin is the six-seed.

HOW THEY GOT HERE
- A tough non-conference slate helped the Eagles open conference play with seven straight wins. Edgewood College opened conference play with a 66-65 win over Wisconsin Lutheran College on December 2, 2023. They went on to defeat Rockford (72-57), Illinois Tech (77-43), Marian (77-66), Aurora (63-57), MSOE (64-49), and Lakeland (75-58).

- Following a loss to Concordia Wisconsin, Edgewood College ended their conference slate with six wins and two losses and locked up the three seed in the tournament. 

- Concordia Wisconsin finished the regular season with a 9-7 NACC record. They earned a critical win over Benedictine on January 10. The Falcons defeated Benedictine behind double-digit scoring from Aubrey DeBauch (21 points), Erin Viergutz (17 points), and Diedre Lassiter (11 points). The Falcons added season sweeps of Rockford and Concordia Chicago to their 2023-24 season to earn a spot in the tournament.

LAST MEETING
- Concordia Wisconsin defeated Edgewood College in their only meeting during the regular season. On January 20, the Falcons took down the Eagles 56-45 despite a fourth quarter surge from Edgewood College.

NACC TOURNAMENT HISTORY
- The Eagles are now 11-10 all-time in NACC Tournament games and 6-3 under head coach Chaia Huff. Under Huff's leadership, the Eagles have now reached the NACC Tournament for the fifth-straight year. This is the best tournament streak for Eagles women's basketball in the NACC. Edgewood College captured their NACC Tournament title during the 2019-20 season and reached the NACC semifinal last season against eventual champion St. Norbert.

- The Falcons are 19-15 in NACC Tournament history. They won the title in 2007 and 2009. Most recently, they faced Wisconsin Lutheran in the NACC Tournament Semifinals in 2023.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
- Edgewood College leads the NACC in field goal percentage, with 43.9 percent. They edge out Wisconsin Lutheran whose mark sits at 42.9 percent. In addition, the Eagles lead the conference in three-point shooting percentage at 33.9.  

- Kenzie Senffner is second in the NACC in three-point field goal percentage at 43.3. Her mark is seventh best in the nation.

- Vivian Guerrero leads the Eagles with 13.67 points per game, which ranks seventh in the NACC. She also averages 10.29 rebounds per game, which is currently third best in the conference. Guerrero's defensive rebounds per game (8.8) is seventh best among all Division III players. The junior dominates the NACC with 49 blocks, which is first in the conference by over 20.

NACC TOURNAMENT
- The winner of Wednesday's game will play the winner of No. 2 St. Norbert vs No. 7 Benedictine in the semifinal round on Friday. 

- The other quarterfinal matchups include No. 8 Rockford at No. 1 Wisconsin Lutheran and No. 5 Aurora at No. 4 MSOE.

- The NACC Tournament final is set for Sunday, February 25, hosted by the higher seed.
