Eagles fall to Warriors in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Edgewood University women's basketball team fell at Wisconsin Lutheran College on Wednesday afternoon. The 85-63 contest went in favor of the league-leading Warriors. Kate Gunderson and Taylor Wollin led the Eagles scoring effort in the NACC contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood University (11-13, 10-7 NACC) struggled to make their mark in the opening quarter, only scoring seven points and allowing 20 from the Warriors. Wisconsin Lutheran College (19-5, 16-1 NACC) opened Wednesday on an 8-0 run and never looked back, shooting 50 percent (9-for-18) from the floor in the opening quarter.

- The Warriors continued to mount a commanding lead in the second quarter, scoring 25 points. At halftime, the Eagles trailed by 24 points (45-21).

- The Eagles recorded their best shooting performance of Wednesday in the third quarter. A three-point make from Sophia Guerrero highlighted a 61.5 percent (8-for-13) shooting effort in the third quarter. Despite the strong effort, the Warriors took their largest lead of 34 points with 4:58 on the clock in the third quarter.

- Edgewood University outscored Wisconsin Lutheran 21-14 in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late. Guerrero led the Eagles with six points in the final 10 minutes.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Kate Gunderson led the Eagles with 12 points on Wednesday.

- Taylor Wollin knocked down 11 points, going 5-for-10 from the floor. Wollin added a team-high seven rebounds.

- Laci Lindsey and Guerrero each scored nine points.

- Grace Vesperman dished out a team-high three assists.

THE OPPOSITION
- Margie Stevens led the Warriors with a whopping 27 points on Wednesday. Stevens went 11-for-21 from the floor and 4-for-5 from the charity stripe.

- Jayden Hill totaled 13 points, going 6-for-9 from the floor. Hill added a team-high four assists.

- Abby Cole collected 10 points and pulled down eight rebounds.

- The Warriors shot 49.3 percent (33-for-67) from the floor on Wednesday night.

- Wisconsin Lutheran claimed at least a share of their 14th NACC title on Wednesday evening.

- Edgewood University will return home for the final time to host Illinois Tech for Senior Day. Action is set for 1:00 p.m. from the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
