HARTFORD, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's golf team competed in the four-round NACC Championships, the final two rounds taking place at Washington County G.C. on Saturday and Sunday. The Eagles ended up in seventh place as a team in the conference meet, carding their best team 72-hole score in program history. In addition, three Eagles carded career-best scores through the final two rounds of the championship.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College saved its best for last, shooting 374 in the final two rounds of the championship. The Eagles saw improvement over every round, including Braxton Brown, Dawson Anderson, and Nadia Marshall who recorded career-low 18-hole scores in the final two rounds.
- It was a consistent effort from Milanne Dahmen, who led the Eagles to finish 18th in her first NACC Championships. Dahmen posted a 72-hole score of 360 (92-85-91-92). Her career-best round of the tournament came in round two, an 85. Her 360 score goes down as the second-best low 72 in the Edgewood College record books.
- The final two rounds of the NACC Championships were much improved for Braxton Brown. The junior posted a total score of 376. Brown posted her career-best score of 88 in round three, following that up with a 93 on Sunday. Brown finished in a tie for 26th place and improved upon her low 72 score by 29 strokes.
- Dawson Anderson was a picture of consistency for Edgewood College. She carded a four-round score of 381 to finish in 29th place. Anderson carded a 98 in round three, before posting her career-low round of 89 on Sunday.
- Sarah Zimmerman closed the tournament with a 100 on Sunday. She posted her best round of the tournament on Saturday, carding a 97. Zimmerman carded a 394 to finish in 38th place.
- Nadia Marshall showed great improvement over the four days of competition. After opening with a 141, she carded a 127 in round two. In the final two rounds of the tournament, Marshall posted career-bests of 123 and then 116. She posted a 507-total score, which is her 72-hole best.
THE TOURNAMENT
- Aurora won the team title by 68 strokes over Marian University. The Spartans had three players in the top five, including runner up Ellie Knight. Knight shot rounds of 85-79-82-76. Aurora's coaching staff, led by head coach Justin Wyeth was named Coaching Staff of the Year.
- Yinan Lu of Marian earned the individual crown, as well as being named Freshman of the Year. Lu recorded rounds of 75-78-79-78 to win by 12 strokes over Knight of Aurora.
