Career-bests fall for Eagles at Home Invite

MADISON, Wis. – Freshman Grace Schomin led the Edgewood University women's golf team at the Edgewood University Fall Invite. Schomin finished in a tie for ninth place and carded a 36-hole career-best score. Madison Najar and Hannah Hegland also added career-best marks for the Eagles. The home invite took place at Odana Hills G.C. The Eagles team score of 726 gave them an eighth-place finish in their home meet. The 36-hole score is the second-best in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Schomin opened the meet with an 83 on Sunday. The freshman improved five places on the leaderboard on Monday, carding a career-best 78. Schomin's Monday round featured 12 pars and a birdie. Schomin finished in a tie for ninth place, with a career-best score of 161 (+17), which ties for second best in the Eagles record books.

- Kendall Kafar was next in line for the Eagles, carding a 179. Kafar's best round came on Sunday, an 85 that featured a birdie on hole 11.

- Madison Najar added a career-best 36 hole score of 191 for the Eagles. Najar's best round came on Monday, with a 94.

- Hannah Hegland posted two career-best marks for the Eagles in the tournament. Hegland's Monday score of 94 goes down as a career best. Hegland's 36-hole score of 195 is also a personal-best mark.

- Lilly Sachtjen rounded out the Eagles scoring lineup with a 220.

- Kamryn Ibinger represented the Eagles as an individual. The senior posted a total score of 224.

THE MEET
- Lake Forest took home the team crown with a total score of 642 (+66). The Foresters beat out St. Norbert and Marian who tied for second place with a 648 (+72).

- Yinan Lu of Marian collected medalist honors with a five-over par 149. Lu carded a 76 on day one, followed by a 73 on day two to beat out Vivien Ninham of St. Norbert who finished with a 150.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood University will compete at the NACC Championships from Saturday, October 4 to Monday, October 6. Action will take place from St. Andrews Golf and C.C. in West, Chicago, Illinois.
