NACC Women's Basketball Quarterfinal Preview

MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Basketball team will host Aurora University in the NACC Women's Basketball Tournament Quarterfinal round on Wednesday night. The Eagles are the fourth-seed in the tournament, while Aurora is the No. 5 seed.

HOW THEY GOT HERE
- The Eagles reached the quarterfinals via 73-23 dismantling of No. 13 Illinois Tech on Saturday. Eden Bonser paced a balanced Eagles attack with 16 points and six rebounds, while Diamond Pikulyk added 15 points. This marks the third-straight year the Eagles have won a NACC Tournament game, including a tournament title in 2019-20.

- The Spartans eclipsed the century mark for the fifth time this season in a 102-56 win over No. 12 Dominican on Saturday. Crystal Rios scored 18 points for Aurora and added eight rebounds.

LAST MEETING
- Edgewood College and Aurora split the regular season meetings with the road team winning each time. Aurora posted a 78-65 win over the Eagles in Madison on January 25, but the Eagles returned the favor with their best performance of the year in a 91-65 win on February 8. Vivan Guerrero scored 23 points and pulled down 17 rebounds in the road win.  

NACC TOURNAMENT HISTORY
- The Eagles are now 9-8 all-time in NACC Tournament games after Saturday's win and are 4-1 under head coach Chaia Huff. Edgewood College captured their only NACC Tournament title in 2019-20 and it reached the NACC North final last season. Huff is 3-0 in NACC Tournament home games.

- The Spartans are 5-9 in NACC Tournament history. They reached the South Final last season and reached the NACC Tournament Final during the 2015-16 season.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
- Guerrero has been one of the top freshmen in the conference this season and has really made an impact on the defensive end. She ranks third in the NACC with 1.5 blocks per game.

- The Spartans are the top-scoring team in the NACC this year, averaging 79.8 points per game in NACC contests. The Eagles rank fourth with 68.3 points per game.

- Pikulyk has led the Eagles this year with 11.3 points per game. She ranks fourth in the NACC in shooting percentage (50.2).

- The Spartans are a team that likes to shoot it from distance, leading the NACC in 3-point field goals made (186) and 3-point field goal percentage (32.2).

NACC Tournament
- The winner of Wednesday's game will likely visit No. 1 Wisconsin Lutheran in the semifinal round on Friday. If No. 8 Lakeland beats the top-seeded Warriors, the winner of the Eagles and Spartans will host the semifinal game against Lakeland.

- The bottom of the bracket features quarterfinal matchups between No. 2 St. Norbert against No. 7 Rockford and No. 3 Benedictine versus No. 6 Concordia Wisconsin.

- The NACC Tournament final is set for Sunday, February 27, hosted by the higher seed.
