Dailey scores twice in rout of Benedictine

Jennifer Dailey
Box Score LISLE, Ill. – The Edgewood College women's soccer team let Benedictine hang around for the first half of their NACC game. However, the visiting Eagles had no intention of letting the home Eagles spoil their current unbeaten streak, scoring twice in the first three minutes of the second half and rolling to a 5-0 victory. Edgewood College is 6-0-1 in their last seven matches.

Jennifer Dailey put Edgewood College (6-2-1, 3-0 NACC) ahead in the 22nd minute. Dailey and Moe Baemmert executed a give-and-go combination on the right side of the penalty area and Dailey finished for her fifth goal of the season. Edgewood College outshot Benedictine University 3-2 in the first half, but saved most of their fireworks for the second half.

Just 90 seconds in to the second half, Jenna Mineau converted a penalty kick to put the Eagles ahead 2-0. Barely a minute later, Dailey struck gold again. Stevie Grable centered the ball from the left and Dailey ripped a one-time shot inside the far post. Just like that Edgewood College held a comfortable 3-0 lead.

Dailey got her foot involved in the Eagles' fourth goal in the 62nd minute as well, slotting a through ball between defenders to Emily Dorsett who beat Benedictine goalkeeper Abby Gary for her first goal of the season. Emily Skaer capped the scoring with a header goal off a cross from Jessie Pampuch with less than 12 minutes remaining in the game.

At 3-0, Edgewood College shares first place in the NACC with Aurora and Concordia Wisconsin. The Eagles will travel to Lakeland College on Wednesday before a Breese Stevens Field showdown with Aurora University on Saturday afternoon.
