CHICAGO, Ill. – The Edgewood University women's soccer team dropped a conference contest at Illinois Tech on Saturday. The host Scarlet Hawks earned a 7-1 victory over the Eagles. Sarah Bolchen scored the Eagles lone goal, her first in an Edgewood University uniform.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Illinois Tech (6-3-0, 4-0-0 NACC) scored five goals in the first half of action on Saturday. Kayla Thomas and Olivia Roy both scored twice in the opening half, joined by Tvesa Vathulya's goal in the eighth minute.
- Just 10 minutes into the second half Vathulya scored her second goal to give Illinois Tech a 6-0 lead.
- Sarah Bolchen scored her first goal as an Eagle with 76 minutes on the clock. Bolchen' goal was assisted by Maude Spagnolo-Salisbury.
- Taylor Hernandez closed out scoring on Saturday with a goal for the Scarlet Hawks in the 86th minute.
- Kami Horn recorded two shots on target for the Eagles on Saturday.
- Madeline Brown recorded four saves in net for the Eagles through 76 minutes. Savannah Sheehan made one save across 14 minutes in net.
- The Scarlet Hawks saw a trio of goalkeepers in net on Saturday. Kayla Hampton posted one save through 45 minutes, while Clara Estiandan posted two saves in 31 minutes. Chloe Lemanowicz recored the final 14 minutes in net for Illinois Tech.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles goal is the first scored against Illinois Tech since the 2021 season.
