Green Knights, Eagles fit to be tied

Tori Fortney
Box Score DE PERE, Wis. – Anyone who arrived at Schneider Stadium expecting to see a truckload of goals like last year's match went away disappointed. The Edgewood College women's soccer team battled St. Norbert College to a 0-0 tie through two overtimes in a non-conference matchup, one year after the two schools totaled nine goals in a 5-4 thriller. The tie keeps the Eagles unbeaten streak intact at four games.

Edgewood College (3-2-1) goalkeeper Tori Fortney was the star of the night. The junior keeper turned back 15 St. Norbert shots to preserve the shutout. A handful of those shots came from St. Norbert College's Katie Vanden Avond, the nation's leading goal scorer. The Eagles held Vanden Avond scoreless after she had poured in a total of 11 goals in her previous five games.

The Eagles managed six shots on the night, four of which they put on goal. Jennifer Dailey led the Eagles with four shots, while Hailey Boyle accounted for the other two.

Edgewood College will be home on Saturday for a Parents' Day match against Concordia University Chicago. The Eagles NACC opener will begin at approximately 1:30 p.m. following the Eagle men's soccer game.
