Eagles kick off season at CNU Classic

Rachel Tesch

The Edgewood College volleyball team is headed back to the east coast for the first time since 2009. The Eagles will look to kick off the 2013-14 season on the right foot as they take on SUNY-New Paltz and Lynchburg College on Friday followed by Berry College and fifth ranked Christopher Newport on Saturday.

Edgewood College will provide live stats and live video for all home matches in the 2013-14 season. The links for this coverage can be found on EdgewoodCollegeEagles.com. Edgewood College's first live contest will be September 10.

Edgewood College has never met with any of their upcoming opponents. The Eagles have a combined 27-19 record against non-conference opponents the past two seasons. Edgewood College has increased their non-conference win total each of the past six seasons. The last time the Eagles traveled to the east coast was in 2009 for the Johns Hopkins University Invitational. Edgewood College won their first match against Goucher College 3-2, but fell to DeSales University and Johns Hopkins. During last season's opening tournament, Edgewood College fared better than other years. The Eagles fell to St. Mary's University to open the Sugar Loaf Classic, but then won their remaining three matches to begin the season 3-1.
