Box Score SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – Coming into Wednesday's contest, the Edgewood College women's soccer team had scored 15 of their 20 goals in the second half. The Eagles needed no time to warm up against Lakeland, however, as Edgewood College netted three scores before the break to blank the Muskies 6-0 and extend their unbeaten streak to eight games.
The Eagles began the onslaught early, scoring two goals in the first seven minutes. After a ball glanced off a Lakeland (3-6, 1-3 NACC) player, Edgewood College was awarded a corner. Haley Gaines lined up the set piece and bent it around to score. Just four minutes later, Moe Baemmert took another corner for the Eagles and after she sent it in, Gaines touched it back to Baemmert for the score. Edgewood College attempted two more shots before Baemmert struck again of another Gaines corner. The Eagles were itching to strike again as they were caught for offsides 11 times before the break, but did not add to the lead.
Not satisfied with a 3-0 lead, Edgewood College controlled the tempo early out of the locker room and cashed in at the 50:26 mark as Emily Berns lofted a beautiful ball to Jennifer Dailey who finished from eight yards out. Edgewood College fired two more shots before tacking on their fifth goal. Baemmert completed her hat trick on an assist from Berns with still over 30 minutes to play.
With time winding down, Lakeland College had an opportunity, but freshman goalkeeper Sabelle Seabrook made a save to preserve the shutout. It did not take long for the Eagles to push back and Hailey Boyle connected with one more Edgewood College goal with just 12 ticks left on the clock.
Caitlin Clifford covered the net in the first half, earning the win, while Seabrook snagged the lone save after the break. With the 6-0 shutout, the Eagles have now outscored their opponents 22-1 during Edgewood College's eight game unbeaten streak.
