RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Edgewood College women's soccer team has it rolling, and it's hard to guess where it may stop. The Eagles extended their unbeaten streak to 11 matches with a 1-0 win over Dominican University on Saturday afternoon. Their win, coupled with Aurora's defeat of Concordia Wisconsin, leaves Edgewood College as the lone remaining undefeated team in the NACC.

One might have thought the task on Saturday would be easy against winless Dominican University (0-9-1, 0-5-1 NACC), but the Stars had no intention of surrendering a quiet victory. Edgewood College (10-2-1, 6-0 NACC) accounted for the first seven shots of the match, the last of which was a blast from Jenna Mineau which rattled the crossbar. Finally, in the 22nd minute, the Eagles' eighth shot paid off. Brianna Franken banked home a shot off the left post to put the Eagles in front 1-0.

One goal was all the margin Eagle goalkeeper Tori Fortney and the Eagles' defense needed. The back line allowed just seven shots from Dominican University and Fortney needed to make just one save to earn her league leading sixth shutout of the season. Fortney is also tops in the NACC in goals-against average (0.76 goals allowed per game) and save percentage (.868). Edgewood College outshot Dominican University 12-7 for the match.

Edgewood College will be back on the road on Wednesday night to face Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee. That match will begin at 7:00 p.m.
