MADISON, Wis. – Seven different Edgewood College players scored in what turned out to be a blowout of Beloit College. The Eagles scored early and often as they defeated the Buccaneers 8-0 for Edgewood College's third consecutive win.
The Eagles (4-1) wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, capitalizing off a mishandled Beloit pass. Ashley Alonso swooped in and stole the errant pass and proceeded to pass it to Kristina Santaga who found the net to put the Eagles up 1-0. Less than four minutes later, Santaga found Elaine Gerry who put the Eagles up 2-0. Edgewood College added two more scores before half on goals from juniors Moe Baemmert and Emily Berns.
In the first half, the Eagles had nine shots on goal compared to zero by Beloit (1-2). That trend would continue into the second half as Edgewood College had four shots on goal to the Buccaneers zero. It just so happened that the Eagles converted on every one of these they had after the break. Baemmert added her second goal of the game in the 52nd minute, and Mackenzie Klingert converted a free kick for her first goal of the season to give the Eagles the 6-0 lead. Elizabeth Koller and Hailey Boyle also contributed to the cause, scoring their first goals of the season to round out Edgewood College's offense.
Kristi Frisch got the win for the Eagles in 65 minutes of play, but because of the excellent defense in front of her, she did not have to make a save. Caitlin Clifford finished the remainder of the game in goal for Edgewood College.
Caitlin Paterson attempted six shots for Beloit, but none of them were on the frame. Willow Macy took the loss, but made five saves in goal for the Buccaneers.
The Eagles will look to win their fourth straight contest when they host Lake Forest College on Wednesday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Live stats and live video will be available for this game. These links can be found on EdgewoodCollegeEagles.com.
