MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's soccer team extended their win streak to six games in blowout fashion on Thursday afternoon. Elaine Gerry and Jennifer Dailey each notched a hat trick while eight Eagles scored at least one point in a 10-0 rout of Maranatha Baptist.
It took 12 minutes to get on the scoreboard, but when Edgewood College (7-1, 3-0, NAC) did, they never stopped. Gerry netted the first three scores for the Eagles in the 12th, 15th, and 28th minutes. Dailey added to the lead with her first goal of the game to put Edgewood College up 4-0. Zenaida Cordova came off the bench and netted her first score of the season as the Eagles saw their lead increase to five at the break.
Only 3:30 passed on the clock in the second half before Edgewood College scored again as Dailey found the back of the net with a shot right over the head of Maranatha Baptist's goalkeeper Ginny Martin. Emily Berns scored consecutive goals two minutes apart to put the Eagles up 8-0. In the 61st minute after one of Gerry's shot was blocked, Dailey was there to finish it for her third score of the game. Cordova netted her second goal of the game in the 77th minute to complete Edgewood College's scoring and put the Eagles up for good 10-0.
Kristina Santaga and Katie Pampuch each dished out two assists for the Eagles. Kristi Frisch grabbed two saves in one half of play for her sixth win of the season while Tori Fortney played the second half, scooping up the only shot she faced.
Michala Marino played one half in goal for the Crusaders (3-5, 1-3 NAC), tallying one save while Ginny Martin snagged five saves in the second half. Both goalkeepers allowed five goals. Jocelyn Enrique fired two shots for Maranatha Baptist, but could not get the Crusaders on the board.
