MADISON, Wis. – An hour of rain before kickoff made for a difficult playing surface, but the Edgewood College women's soccer team was not fazed. The Eagles added to their perfect record under the lights at Breese Stevens Field this year with a 2-0 victory over MSOE.

Edgewood College (12-2, 8-1) got on the board twice in the first half and that was all the Eagles needed to defeat the Raiders. The first goal came in the 16th minute as Ashley Alonso found Kristina Santaga who chipped the ball right over MSOE's goalkeeper Emma Lumpe. The goal was Santaga's seventh of the year and first since September 9.

In the 40th minute, the Eagles extended their lead to 2-0 when Emily Dorsett ripped a shot from the top of the box to the upper left corner of the net. At halftime, Edgewood College held the shot advantage 10-5 over MSOE (7-7-1, 5-6-1).

In the second half six shots were traded back and forth by each team, but neither could convert. Edgewood College's Tori Fortney matched a collegiate career high with seven saves. The sophomore goalkeeper grabbed three shot attempts in the first half and four in the second to notch her first shutout of the year.

Caitlin Liddiard fired five shots for the Raiders, but only got one on the net, which was saved by Fortney. Lumpe tallied seven saves in the net for MSOE, but the two goals allowed in the first half proved to be the difference.

With the shutout against the Raiders, the Eagles extended their winning streak to five games. Edgewood College will take that momentum to Milwaukee on Saturday as they face Alverno College. Live stats and live video will be provided. These links can be found at EdgewoodCollegeEagles.com.
