Santaga, the second leading scorer on the team from a year ago but still searching for her first goal of 2011, pumped in shots in the 16th and 26th minute to put the Eagles ahead 2-0. In the 34th minute,
Ashley Alonso served up a corner kick to the head of
Jenna Mineau who beat Ripon College goalkeeper Lexi Solich for her second goal of the season. Just over a minute later,
Zenaida Cordova scored off a pass from
Brianna Franken and the Eagles held a commanding 4-0 halftime lead.
The score remained the same deep into the second half, until
Katie Pampuch broke through with her first goal of the season in the 76th minute. Ripon's Brandi Peltier scored with less than eight minutes to play to avert the shutout, but Edgewood College tacked on one more score, from
Sophie Rodriguez, in the 88th minute of play.
Starting Edgewood College goalkeeper
Kristi Frisch made three saves, and still has yet to allow a goal in over 216 minutes played this season. Frisch improved her record to 3-0 on the year.
Tori Fortney replaced Frisch in the 63rd minute and made two saves.
Edgewood College will travel north to De Pere, Wis. for another non-conference match against St. Norbert College. The Eagles and Green Knights will kick-off at 12:00 p.m.
