Eagles shutout by Dominican

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Their last time out, the Edgewood College women's soccer snuck by Lawrence University. The Eagles couldn't keep that momentum going against Dominican University in another road test however. The Stars tallied two first half goals and held on to take game 2-0.

In just the ninth minute, Adrienne Ryba received a corner kick in front of the goal and deflected it into the net to give the Stars (9-2, 7-0 NAC) the 1-0 lead.

Edgewood College (8-3, 3-3 NAC) had an opportunity to tie the game just two minutes later. Kristina Santaga ripped a shot that sailed just high. The Eagles then put pressure on the Stars for a two minute span. Mackenzie Klingert had a shot blocked in the 22nd minute, followed by a corner kick. The
Eagles then took another corner in the 23rd minute.

Play then moved to the other end of the field as the stars headed a shot just high in the 34th minute. Ryba scored her second goal of the game just a minute later to give the Stars a 2-0 lead.

The Eagles controlled play in the second half, outshooting Dominican 5-1 in the half. However, they could not break through and fell 2-0.

In the contest, the Eagles outshout the Stars 9-7 and had seven more corner kicks. Elaine Gerry led the Eagles with three shots, one on net and Santaga took two shots, one being on goal.

The Eagles will return to the field on Tuesday when they host Lakeland College. Edgewood College will provide live stats and live video for the 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
