ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Edgewood College women's soccer team knew they were in for an uphill battle going into Wednesday night's contest at sixth ranked Augustana College. The Vikings jumped out early, scored two first half goals and played solid defense in their 2-0 win over the Eagles.

Augustana (11-0-2) took three shots in the first six minutes, with the Eagles' goalkeeper, Kristi Frisch turning away two of them and the other being blocked. Two minutes later, the Eagles (10-4-1) had their first chance of the game, but Elaine Gerry's shot went wide of the goal.

Erin Coulson extended the Vikings lead seven minutes later when she took a pass from Jessica Dodds and deposited her shot in the back of the net to make the lead 2-0 Augustana.
