RIPON, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's soccer team was able to come away with a very close 4-3 victory against Ripon College. The Eagles gave up three second half goals and relinquished their two goal second half lead but were ultimately able to come back with two goals in the last 10 minutes by Abby Moder to take the game from the Red Hawks.
In her second career game, Moder netted three goals for the Eagles (1-1). Her first tally of the season came in the very first minute of the game to give the Eagles an early 1-0 lead. Sophomore Kelsey Beck stretched the Eagles lead to two goals in the 11th minute as she put a ball past the Red Hawks (0-2) goalkeeper Angelica Cooper in the upper right corner of net.
The Eagles gave up three consecutive goals and lost the lead in the 72nd minute as Ripon's Brittany Johnson was able to sneak one past Ilana Bar-av, the Eagles goalkeeper to make the score 3-2. Moder would tie the game just 10 minutes later as she scored on a shot that deflected off of Cooper and into the net. Moder would give the Eagles the lead for good just a minute later when she netted her third goal of the game to cap an unforgettable night.
Clare Schumacher tallied two assists on the first two goals for the Eagles and Beck added an assist on Moder's game winning goal for a total of three points.
The Eagles will next be in action on September 13 at Aurora University, kick off is set for 1:00 p.m.
