RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Freshman Abby Moder scored two more goals and senior Ilana Bar-av notched her second straight shutout as the Edgewood College women's soccer team defeated Concordia University Chicago 2-0 at Concordia Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Since dropping their Northern Athletics Conference opener, the Eagles have gone unbeaten in their last four NAC matches.
The Eagles (4-3-1, 3-1-1 NAC) scored first in the 26th minute. A shot from Kelsey Beck was blocked by a defender in front of the net and eventually ended up on the foot of Moder. She deposited the ball in the back of the net past Cougar goalkeeper Jessica Hendrick for a 1-0 lead. Bar-av made three first half saves to preserve the lead into the break.
It took the Eagles almost 26 minutes to get their first shot of the second half, but when they did they made it count. Again it was Moder, scoring her 10th goal of the season, this time assisted by Emily Daniels. Moder is second in goals in the NAC, behind only Wisconsin Lutheran College's Meta Kolander.
Bar-av finished with five saves and with her second straight shutout, she extended her scoreless minutes streak to 275:05, the equivalent of more than three full matches.
The Eagles will have most of next week off before a difficult stretch of three road games in five days, starting with Beloit College on October 2.
