MADISON, Wis. - The wet conditions and slick playing conditions at Breese Stevens Field on Tuesday didn't slow down the Edgewood College women's soccer team. The Eagles tallied a pair of first half goals and held Marian University at bay the rest of the game to record a 2-0 victory.

As they've made a habit of recently, Edgewood College (3-3-1, 2-1-1 NAC) got on the board early. In the ninth minute, Abby Moder picked up a misplayed ball from a Sabre defender 50 yards from the net, and muscled her past the last defender. She deposited her eighth goal of the season past Marian's starting goalkeeper Tiffany Erdman.

Midway through the first half, the Eagles added a second goal. Tammi Hagensick found Kelsey Beck who was waiting unmarked at the 18-yard line. Beck took one touch forward and beat Erdman into the lower right corner for her second goal of the season.

Beck and Moder each had multiple chances to add a second goal, but were thwarted each time. The two Eagle forwards each had five shots, putting three of them apiece on goal.

Marian University (3-3, 2-2 NAC) applied pressure in the second half, getting three shots on goal in the second half, but Eagle goalkeeper Ilana Bar-av was up the challenge each time. Bar-av finished her first shutout of the season and 15th of her career with six saves.

Edgewood College will hit the road for their next four matches, beginning Saturday at Concordia University Chicago. Game time for the Eagles and the Cougars is at 3:00 p.m.
