MADISON, Wis. – How things change in a day's time. Yesterday, Edgewood College was able to jump out early and often against Benedictine University. It did not work that way on Sunday, as the Eagles were only able to get off eight shots in a 4-0 loss to Lawrence University.
The Vikings (4-2) took the lead in the 19th minute when Mallory Koula sent a long lead pass to teammate Sarah Ehlinger who slid it past Eagle (2-3-1) goalkeeper Kristi Frisch. The same combination worked again for the Vikings 12 minutes later, this time it was Ehlinger that fed Koula on a cross that she netted to give Lawrence two goal lead. Koula would tack on two more goals to give her a hat trick.
Edgewood College's best opportunity came early in the second half as they ripped three shots just four minutes into the frame. Two of the shots were on goal but Viking goalkeeper, Lindsey Ahlen, turned them away. For the Eagles, Kelsey Beck, Tammi Hagensick, and Abby Moder tallied two shots apiece to lead Edgewood College. Frisch accumulated 10 saves on the Vikings 14 shots on goal.
The Eagles will next be in action on Tuesday when the host conference foe, Marian University. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
