FOREST PARK, Ill. - An impressive win in game one vs. Dominican made it seem as if the Eagles were destined for their third straight NAC Tournament berth until the Stars broke out their bats in an 11-4 victory in game two to run the Eagles' tank to empty only one win shy of making the tourney.

Back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning by Kristen Salvatore and Rachel Elliott propelled Edgewood College from a 3-2 deficit to a 6-3 lead which is how it ended in game one. Dominican had put the Eagles in an early 3-0 hole in the first inning with a Sarah Budz 3-run home run with two outs, but that was all that Eagle pitcher Jenna Ryan would allow.

Dominican pitcher Jori Cicale allowed just one hit in the first four innings, but the Eagles broke through in a big way in the next two frames. Salvatore was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and then Elliott hit her first of two home runs in the game to dead center field to cut the Star lead to 3-2. Salvatore and Elliott then struck again in the sixth inning to provide the final outcome. Elliott finished the game 3-for-3 with three runs batted in and two runs scored. Ryan (13-11) won her fourth straight start and had set up a “win and you're in” scenario for the Eagles in game two.

In the second game, Edgewood College got on the board first thanks to Jamie Kurt's 13th double of the season to drive in Leslie Osman and the Eagles took a 1-0 lead out to the field. Ryan, starting the Eagles' seventh game in a row, may have been running on fumes by this point. The senior ran into trouble very early as Dominican (26-12, 16-8 NAC) put up an 8-spot in the bottom of the first inning and would add one more in the second inning before Brittany Andrews relieved Ryan after one batter in the third.

The Eagles added a run in the fourth and two in the fifth to cap off their scoring. They finished tied with Concordia University Wisconsin for sixth place in the NAC. The Eagles' first conference doubleheader of the season proved to be the difference maker as CUW came away with the sweep back on April 2 in Mequon.

Edgewood College's season ends with a 19-18 overall record and a 14-10 mark in Northern Athletics Conference play.
