Benedictine slides past Edgewood University in NACC Twin Bill

VERONA, Wis.- The Edgewood University softball team faced Benedictine University on Tuesday, welcoming the fellow Eagles to Ceniti Park for a NACC twinbill. Benedictine swept Edgewood University by scores of 15-10, and 9-8.

BENEDICTINE 15, EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 10
- Going into the seventh inning Edgewood University (12-23, 5-15 NACC) led Benedictine University (30-8, 16-6 NACC) 10-6. Edgewood University scored runs in the first, second, fourth and sixth innings in game one. Benedictine scored nine runs on five hits to claim the game one victory in the Battle of the Eagles.

- The visiting Eagles scored first, as an RBI double from Alyssa Perkins game Benedictine a 2-0 lead through the top of the first inning. Edgewood University responded back, tying the game a two a piece with an RBI single off the bat of Lily Mabs.

- It was a back-and-forth affair, as Benedictine claimed an 8-5 lead through the top of the fourth inning. Edgewood University scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth frame thanks to an RBI double from Abilina Dubree.

- The host Eagles scored twice in the sixth frame, the ninth run coming from an RBI single off the bat of Natalie Fields. Savannah Radtke roped a triple into right field to plate Fields for the 10th run.

- Fields went 2-for-2, scoring three runs and adding an RBI. Grace Dooley posted two hits and drove in two runs. Dubree recorded two doubles and drove in three runs.

- Edgewood University saw three pitchers in game one. Ariana Macias threw 4.0 innings for the Eagles, scattering four hits.

BENEDICTINE 9, EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 8
- A solo home run to center field from Benedictine's Lauryn Olson scored first in the nightcap on Tuesday evening. Edgewood University posted three runs in the bottom of the third inning thanks to an RBI single from Dooley and RBI double from Lily Mabs.

- Benedictine plated six runs in the fifth frame to take a 7-3 lead. The Benedictine bats were patient, combing for seven hits in the inning.

- Edgewood University didn't give up, scoring three times in the fifth and twice in the sixth but it wasn't enough to take home the game two win.

- Draper went 3-for-4 at the plate, driving in a run. Dooley, Mabs, and Boardman each collected two hits in game two.

- Lauren Prigge earned the start in the circle, throwing four innings and striking out two batters.

- Edgewood University will host MSOE on Friday. Doubleheader action is set for 3:00 p.m. from Ceniti Park.
