WATERTOWN, Wis. – The Edgewood College softball team finally made it back onto the field following three rainouts this week and made the most of their time on it by defeating Maranatha Baptist Bible College 10-0 and 16-1 in a doubleheader sweep at Brandt Quirk Park in Watertown, Wis. on Thursday night.
Brittany Andrews earned two wins after allowing just one run in 10 innings combined to move her record to 4-2 on the year while also dropping her ERA from 4.62 to 3.93 for the season. She received a lot of help from her teammates who put up 26 runs on 20 hits in both games combined.
Brittany Miller had six RBI in game one alone and then added three more in the second game. Needless to say it was a breakout performance for the freshman from Forestville. In all, Miller went 4-for-5 at the plate with nine RBI and two runs scored. She also stole a base.
Alexandra Baltazar and Kayla Rackow turned in 2-for-2 performances at the plate in game one while Leslie Osman returned from injury to go 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored in game two. Also in game two, every Eagle in the lineup scored a run with the exception of Andrews who reached with a walk and was removed for pinch runner Emily Monson who eventually came around to score.
With a strong collaborative effort, the Eagles pushed their record to .500 (15-15) for the first time this season and 9-7 in the NAC. They'll play Marian University (18-12, 14-4 NAC) tomorrow in a doubleheader at 5:00 p.m. It will continue a stretch of 12 games in six days to conclude the regular season. The NAC tournament begins a week from today and the Eagles are currently on the outside looking in at that sixth and final postseason spot.
