Eagles blank Lakeland for fifth straight win

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – For the second straight game the Edgewood College women's soccer team did not score in the first half but still came away with a road victory. The 2-0 win at Lakeland College in wet and rainy conditions pushed the Eagles winning streak to five matches.

The Eagles (7-3-1, 4-1-1 NAC) put pressure on Muskies (2-10, 1-5 NAC) in the first half as they outshot Lakeland 7-3 but could not push a ball past Whitney England, the Muskie goalkeeper. Edgewood College finally broke through seven minutes into the second frame when Katie Hunt tallied her first career assist, as she slid a pass to Kelsey Beck who netted her fourth goal of the season.

With the Eagles still leading 1-0, Tammi Hagensick extend their lead in the 87th minute with her first goal of the season, unassisted. Goalkeeper Ilana Bar-av recorded her fourth shutout in the last five games as she tallied two saves on five Muskie shots.

The Eagles will continue conference play on Saturday when they host Rockford College. The match is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m.
