BELOIT, Wis. – In their first game this week, the Edgewood College women's soccer team posted their third consecutive shutout as the defeated Beloit College 1-0.
Just as they have done all season, the Eagles (5-3-1) were the first team to light up the scoreboard. They did so in the 20th minute as Clare Schumacher tallied an unassisted goal, her first of the season. Schumacher took two shots in the game, which was second on the team to freshman Abby Moder who took three shots.
Beloit College (5-5) outshot the Eagles 4-3 in the first half, all being stopped by goalkeeper Ilana Bar-av. Edgewood College would tighten up the defense in the second frame as they would only allow two shots, both of which were turned away by Bar-av who earned her third consecutive shutout and pushed her scoreless minute streak to 365:05. The Eagles would also record six shots in the second half, all stopped by Buccaneer goalkeeper Katie Shurr.
The Eagles will next be in action on Sunday when they travel to De Pere to face St. Norbert College. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
