MADISON, Wis. - In most cases it wouldn't be possible to associate a player scoring five goals in a game with a drop in production. Unless you happen to be Elaine Gerry, that is. The freshman forward tallied five goals against Concordia University Chicago, just a few days after scoring six times against Marian, as Edgewood College cruised to a 15-1 win over the Cougars.

Gerry scored the first two goals of the game for Edgewood College (6-1, 2-0 NAC) within the first ten minutes, and added two more in the first half before Head Coach Tim Alexander began substituting freely. Gerry returned long enough to score her 11th goal of the week early in the second half before heading to the bench for good. She now has 17 goals for the season, taking a commanding lead in the Northern Athletics Conference statistics.

Gerry certainly wasn't the only Eagle to post eye-popping numbers. Last Wednesday it was Laura Marx serving up a school record-tying five assists. Today, Elyse Clouthier served up five assists of her own to slide in next to Marx in the record book. Clouthier dished out assists on four consecutive goals during a nine minute span in the first half. She then found Gerry in the second half just four minutes before netting her own goal, her fourth of the season.

Jessi Ditzler also padded her stat line, scoring three straight goals in less than eight minutes in the second half, assisted twice by Kelsey Beck. Added to her goal and assist late in the first half and Ditzler finished the day nine points (four goals, one assist).

Janna Yost tallied once in each half, set up first by Clouthier and then later by Caitlin Moore, and also assisted on Gerry's third goal. Tammi Hagensick had a goal and an assist, while Kelsey Beck netted a goal to go with a pair of assists. Sophomore Emily Daniels also scored her first goal of the season.

Junior goalkeeper Ilana Bar-av was less than eight minutes from a shutout when Kari Zielke and Nicole Green teamed up on a give and go to give Concordia Chicago (1-6, 1-3 NAC) their only goal of the game. Bar-av finished with three saves.

Edgewood College will look to continue their high-scoring ways on Tuesday afternoon, when they host Beloit College. Game time is 4:30 p.m. at Breese Stevens Field.
