VERONA, Wis. (Apr. 17, 2008) – Edgewood College remains unbeaten at Ceniti Park, sweeping Concordia Chicago 7-1 and 4-3.
Jenna Ryan pitched 10 innings for the Eagles, picking up the win in game one and pitched three innings of scoreless relief in game two to pick up the save.
In game one, the Eagles offense exploded, scoring six runs in the third inning to take a 7-0 lead.
Kristen Salvatore highlighted the third with a two RBI single. Five of the team's eight hits occurred in the third inning. The Cougars scored their lone run in the top of the fourth but were unable to generate any more offense, mustering only three hits in the game.
Jenna Ryan (8-6) picked up the win, pitching all seven innings, allowing just three hits and no earned runs while fanning seven batters. Concordia's Courtney Campbell (0-13) absorbed the loss, allowing seven runs in just two and one third innings of action. Offensively,
Colleen Joyce led the Eagles charge, going a perfect three-for-three at the plate. Salvatore and
Jamie Kurt each had two RBIs apiece in the game.
A two-out

The Cougars responded in the bottom half of the inning, piling on three runs to take their first lead of the day. In the top of the fifth inning with two-outs,

Stacey Ley getting a base knock to drive in two runs to regain the lead. Ryan would then enter the game as a pitcher, doing three innings of relief work and picking up her first save of the season. The Cougars threatened to score in the fifth with Suzanne Laske on third before getting thrown out in a rundown. Rachel Elliot (2-2) picked up her second career win, pitching four innings, allowing four hits and three earned runs. Becky Bryzgalski (3-3) was credited with the loss, pitching all seven innings for the Cougars, striking out six.
Jennifer Stephens and
Kristen Salvatore each went two-for-four at the plate for the Eagles. With the hits, Stephens extends her hitting streak to 18 games.
With the sweep, Edgewood College improves to 12-10 overall and 7-5 in the Northern Athletics Conference. Concordia Chicago falls to 3-17 overall and 3-13 in conference play. The Eagles are now 6-0 all-time at Ceniti Park. Edgewood College travels to Sheboygan, Wis. tomorrow afternoon for a doubleheader against Lakeland College.
