Eagles swept by Sabres in NACC Twin Bill

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Edgewood University softball team fell twice at Marian University on Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles struggled to score in game one, falling 4-0, followed by a 9-1 six-inning final score in game two.

MARIAN UNIVERSITY 4, EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 0
- Lauren Prigge kept things close for Edgewood University (12-17, 5-9 NACC) in game one. The sophomore scattered nine hits through four innings in the circle and struck out four batters. Ariana Macias came in to relieve Prigge, throwing two innings and striking out a batter. Neither Eagle pitcher gave up a walk in game one.

- Marian University (14-12, 11-5 NACC) scored first in the bottom of the second inning, as an RBI single plated a single runner. The Sabres were patient at the plate, scoring twice in the fourth frame thanks to an RBI single from Macey Pease and RBI double from Riley Mankowski. A sacrifice fly plated the Sabres fourth run of the game in the fifth inning.

- The Eagles looked to respond in the sixth inning as back-to-back walks from Natalie Fields and Savannah Radtke put runners in scoring position. In the end, he Eagles left both runners on base.

MARIAN UNIVERSITY 9, EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 1 – 6 INNINGS
- Marian continued to roll in game two, scoring three runs in the first inning and totaling 13 hits in the nightcap. The Sabres tacked on two runs in the fourth frame thanks to a sacrifice fly and RBI single for a 5-0 lead.

- Edgewood University scored their single run of the afternoon in the fifth inning. MacKenzie Miller got things going with a single to left field. Pinch runner Jaelyn Hilliard put the Eagles into scoring position via a stolen base. Allie Draper plated Hilliard from second with an RBI single in the next at-bat.

- Marian responded in the bottom of the fifth inning with three runs. The Sabres claimed the run-rule victory in the sixth inning after loading the bases and scoring via an RBI single from Alexa Paulsberg.

- Hailie Boardman threw five innings for the Eagles, striking out a batter and collecting four earned runs.

- Abilina Dubree and Gracie Halfman each collected a double in the game two loss.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood University will travel to Aurora University on Saturday. Doubleheader action is set for 12:00 p.m. from Montgomery, Ill.
