MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's soccer team played 18 matches without venturing into overtime. Apparently they've been saving up the excitement all season. After 110 minutes of scoreless soccer, Edgewood College and Dominican University were left to settle their Northern Athletics Conference tournament semifinal match with a penalty kick shootout.

The Eagles scored on all four of their penalty kick attempts and goalkeeper Ilana Bar-av made a crucial save for a 4-2 shootout win and the right to advance to the NAC tournament championship match.

The Eagles got a lucky break on Dominican's first attempt when Jocelyn Camacho hit the left post with her shot. Tammi Hagensick put the Eagles ahead 1-0 with a hard shot under the crossbar and over the head of Stars' goalkeeper Jacqui Lani.

After Dominican's Kelly Rounce and Edgewood College's Laura Marx scored their shots, Bar-av came up with a her biggest play of the season. The Eagle junior guessed correctly, diving to her right to parry a Liz Phipps shot. When Elyse Clouthier buried her shot in the upper left corner, the Eagles had a commanding 3-1 lead.

Karly Kuranda kept the Stars' hopes alive with successful shot into the right side netting, but Kelsey Trieloff sent the Eagles to the championship match with a well placed shot to Lani's left for the final 4-2 margin.

The Eagles controlled the first half of play outshooting Dominican 11-1, but the Stars came to life in the second half getting off four shots and keeping the ball in their offensive end a majority of the half. The Eagles outshot the Stars 4-0 in the overtime sessions, but neither team generated a quality scoring chance.

Bar-av recorded her ninth shutout of the season by making three saves, while Lani made nine saves for her seventh shutout of the season. Dominican University ends their season with a record of 13-6-2.

Edgewood College (15-3-2) will face top-seeded Aurora University on Saturday at 1:00 at Aurora, Ill. The Eagles handed the Spartans their first NAC loss in program history with a 1-0 triumph on October 18.
