Erika Thompson named Academic All-District

MADISON, Wis. (Nov. 2, 2007) – Edgewood College women's soccer player #Erika Thompson# (Waukesha, Wis.) has been named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V third team. She won the award for the College Division; which consists of all Division II, Division III and NAIA schools. The prestigious award recognizes student-athlete success not only on the field but in the classroom as well.

Erika, a junior forward, was honored after scoring 13 goals and 8 assists in 19 games played. Erika led the Eagles in goals, points (34), and was third on the team in assists.  Her 13 goals on the year helped propel the Eagles offense that was ranked #3 in the nation in scoring, averaging 4.5 goals per game.  Off the field the education major carries a 3.42 GPA. To be eligible for voting athletes must have at least sophomore standing, have a 3.2 GPA or higher (on 4.0 scale) and be a starter or key reserve on the team. Voting is conducted by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) and District V includes soccer teams from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Ontario.
