Eagles card record performance at Midwest Region Fall Classic

KANSASVILLE, Wis. – A record performance was turned in by the Edgewood University women's golf team this weekend at the Midwest Region Fall Classic. The Eagles finished 16th of 35 in the event, carding a 696 that featured rounds of 346 and 350. The Eagles sub-700 round is the second in school history and sets the 36-hole school record. Freshman Vivi Hruby led the Edgewood University women's golf team at the Midwest Region Fall Classic. Kendall Kafar, Isla Rechlicz, and Lia Gawryk carded career-best marks for the Eagles on the weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hruby tied her career-best 36-hole score with a 168 on the weekend to finish in a tie for 52nd place. The freshman carded rounds of 83 and 85 on the weekend.

- Kendall Kafar carded a career-best 174 to finish in a tie for 80th place on the weekend. Kafar posted an 86 on Friday, following that up with an 88 on Saturday.

- Isla Rechlicz posted a career-best 176 to finish in a tie for 88th at Brighton Dale Links. Rechlicz's best came on Saturday, as a career-best 85 came thanks to eight pars and a birdie on hole nine.

- Grace Schomin carded a 179 on the weekend, carding an 86 on Friday before finishing with a 93 on Saturday.

- Lia Gawryk rounded out the Eagles lineup with a career-best 191. Gawryk's best 18-hole score of 92 came on Saturday and featured a birdie on hole three.

- Elisia Wynos competed as an individual for the Eagles. Wynos carded a 196 that featured rounds of 100 and 96.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles two-round score continues to raise the bar, setting the best 36-hole score in program history, relative to par. The Eagles 696 (+120) breaks the previous mark of 693 (+121) set back in 2011 at the Benedictine Fall Invitational.  

THE MEET
- Aurora University claimed the team title with a 599. The Spartans carded a seven over par 295 on Friday, following that up with a 304 on Saturday.

- Thanpimol Tharpanawongwech of Aurora University claimed medalist honors with a one under par 143. Tharpanawongwech carded a 69 (-3) on Friday, followed by a 74 (+2) on Saturday.  

UP NEXT
- Edgewood University will close out their fall season at the NACC Championships October 3-5. Action will begin on Saturday, October 3 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Andrews Golf & C.C. in West Chicago, Ill.
