WEST CHICAGO, Ill. – The Edgewood University women's golf team continued an impressive fall taking down the 54-hole program record while finishing sixth of 10 teams at the NACC Championships, held at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club. The Eagles finished in sixth place with a program record score of 1051 (+187). Freshman Vivi Hruby led the Eagles, finishing in a tie for 20th place.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles team score of 1051 (+187) ranks as the best 54-hole score in program history. The Eagles rounds of 341, 353, and 357 bested the previous record of 1063 (+207) from the 2011 NAC Championships also held at St. Andrews Golf & C.C.
- The Eagles 341 (+53) first rounds was the best 18-hole round of the fall season for Edgewood University. The round ranks third best in the Eagles record books.
- Vivi Hruby led the Eagles with a 251 across 54-holes. Hruby bookended the tournament with two rounds of 82. The freshman finished in a tie for 20th place. Hruby's 54-hole performance ranks third best in program history.
- Grace Schomin finished in a tie for 24th place in the tournament, carding a 255. Schomin's best round came first, an 81 that featured three birdies and five pars.
- Lia Gawryk saved the best rounds of her freshman fall for the tournament. Gawryk carded her collegiate best, an 85 in Sunday's round. The freshman carded a 269 to finish in a tie for 31st place. In Saturday's round, Gawryk carded an 89 that featured a birdie and five pars.
- Isla Rechlicz finished in 36th place with a 276. The freshman opened the tournament with an 89. Rechlicz rounded things out with rounds of 97 on Sunday, and 90 on Monday.
- Elisia Wynos carded a 292 to finish in a tie for 41st place Wynos carded a 94 on Saturday, followed by rounds of 98 and 100.
THE MEET
- Aurora University won the team title by 57 strokes over Marian University. The Spartans carded an 892 (+28) with five players finishing in the top 10.
- Avery Arendell of Aurora captured medalist honors with a one-over par 217. She fired off rounds of 75, 72, and 70. In the tournament, Arendell carded eight birdies and two eagles
