KANSASVILLE, Wis. – Senior Braxton Brown led the Edgewood College women's golf team at the Midwest Region Fall Classic with a two-day career-best score. Kendall Kafar and Kamryn Ibinger also added career-bests for the Eagles. Friday and Saturday's action took place at the Brighton Dale Links.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Brown opened the meet tying her career-best score of a 79. The senior recorded ten pars and one birdie in the opening round. Brown closed out round-two with an 82 that featured three birdies. Her two-day total of 161 goes down as her career-best 36-hole score and second-best in program history.
- Freshman Kafar had a stellar day one, shooting a 91. Kafar carded a 104 in round-two to take home a career-best 36-hole score of 195.
- Ibinger showed vast improvement over the 18 holes on day two. She rounded out the tournament with a career-best round of 125. In Friday's round, Ibinger carded a 136, bringing her two-round total to 261.
THE MEET
- Cal Lutheran finished with the team crown, carding a two-day total of 615 (+39). They battled against their west coast rivals Occidental to lead by seven strokes at the end of two days.
- Morgan Hawkins of Dubuque won medalist honors with a 149 (+5). She carded a seven-over par 79 on day one before vaulting up the leaderboard on day two with a two-under par 70 for the victory.
