Eagles compete at UW-Whitewater Fall Invite

DELAVAN, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's golf team competed in its final tune-up before the NACC Championships next weekend and finished 19th at the UW-Whitewater Fall Invite at Delbrook Golf Course. Freshman Ashley Memmo shot a career-low while Dana Marshall and Betsy Ennis both turned in sub-100 rounds in the tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Edgewood College was competing in its second 36-hole competition of the season and improved greatly upon its first one. They shot a 925 to open the season at UW-Oshkosh but improved on that score by 76 strokes.
-The Eagles had two sub-100 rounds but nearly had much more. Marshall shot a 101 on day one before her 91 in the second day. Betsy Ennis fired a 107 on day one before her career-low 99 on Saturday while Kendelle Grube turned in a 104 in day two.
-Carthage College ran away with the win, as all of its competitors fired a 36-hole total of 164 or lower.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
-Memmo's career low was a 10-stroke improvement from her previous best. She shot a 140 at the Lakeland College Triangular but fired a 130 on Friday.
-Marshall's 91 on day two was just two strokes away from her career best, which came at the Edgewood College Triangular on Sept. 10.
-Ennis' 99 on Saturday was a 13-stroke improvement from her previous top mark, as she fired a 112 at the Edgewood College Triangular in early September.

FOR THE OPPONENTS
-University of Illinois-St. Francis' Krystal Garritson earned medalist honors by four strokes after finishing with a 1-over 147. She fired a 74 on Friday before besting that by one stroke on Saturday.
-Concordia Wisconsin's Nina Puch took second with a 151 (+5) and shot a 71 on Friday.

UP NEXT
-Edgewood College's meet today in Delavan was the final tune-up before the 2015 NACC Championships. The 54-hole championship meet will take place at Bristol Oaks Golf Course in Bristol, Wis. The event will start on Friday, Oct. 2 and run through Sunday, Oct. 4.
