Eagles show improvement at Washington Univ. Invite

MADISON, Ill. – The Edgewood College women's golf team improved their second round by 31 strokes, but it was not enough to climb the Eagles up the leaderboard. Edgewood College shot 441 on Saturday which was followed by a 410 to finish 20th at the Washington University Spring Invitational.

In a field of 112 golfers, Alice Whalen led the Eagles with a two-day total of 194. After shooting a 106 on Saturday, Whalen fired an 88 on Sunday to match her lowest round of the season. Melanie Chang found a consistent stroke as she carded 104 and 107, respectively in the two day tournament.

Freshman Katie Faber played in her first tournament for the Eagles and posted a 119 on day one but a 22 shot improvement led to a two-day total of 216. Sydney Jedlicka rounded out Edgewood College's top four with a 112 on Sunday followed by a 118.

William Woods University took the invitational with a two-round score of 623, edging DePauw University by eight strokes.

The Eagles will travel to Iowa next weekend to participate in the Mount Mercy Spring Invitational. The two day tournament begins on Saturday at Hunters Ridge Golf Course.
