Sunday score boosts Eagles to third place at BU Invite

WEST CHICAGO, Ill. - The Edgewood College women's golf team produced their best 36-hole score of the spring season with a third place finish at the Benedictine University Spring Invitational. The Eagles shot a two-day total of 808, led by Alice Whalen's 12th place finish in their penultimate competition of the season.

Whalen was Edgewood College's most consistent player on the St. Andrew's Golf Club course, shooting 96 on day one and 97 on Sunday for a score of 193. That total marked Whalen lowest score of the spring season. Emilee Guderyon returned from injury to shoot a second day round of 89, the Eagles' lowest round of the tournament. She placed 15th overall with a two-day score of 196.

Melanie Chang cracked the top 20 with a score of 209. Katie Faber and Sydney Jedlicka rounded out the squad by shooting 212 and 214, respectively. The Eagles improved their team score by 28 shots in Sunday's second round with a total of 390.

Edgewood College will conclude the 2012-13 season by hosting their first home event in Madison since the 2007-08 season. The Eagles will host the Edgewood College Spring Invitational next Sunday and Monday at Cherokee Country Club.
