Eagles finish 11th at Mount Mercy Invite

Hunters Ridge Golf Course

MARION, Iowa – With all of the postponements this spring, it has been nearly impossible for any Edgewood College team to get in competition. Today, however, the women's golf team left the cold as they traveled to Iowa to compete at the Mount Mercy Spring Invitational. Although the weather greeted them well, the course did not as the Eagles finished 11th of 11 with a two-day total of 896.

Freshman Katie Faber had a strong improvement on Sunday as she carded a 104, which was 19 strokes lower than her previous day's score. Alice Whalen was the only Eagle to post a sub-100 round as she finished with a 94 on Sunday. Whalen followed that with a 106 on Saturday to tie for 45th in the 63 player field.

Melanie Chang showed consistency as she carded a 115 and 116 on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Sydney Jedlicka was the next Edgewood College finisher as she placed 60th with a 116 on day one and 122 on Sunday. Freshman Kristin Sokol rounded out the Eagles with a two-day total of 326.

Edgewood College will continue their spring season against conference opponents at the Benedictine University Spring Invite this Saturday. The two day meet will take place at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago, Illinois.
