Eagles return to the Metrodome for season opener

Sean Thompson
The long cold winter hasn't ended, but baseball returns for the Edgewood College Eagles this Friday and Saturday. The Eagles will open under the roof of the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota for a pair of late night doubleheaders. MIAC foes St. John's and Augsburg provide the competition.

There will be no live coverage of Friday night's games, but Augsburg will have live stats and audio for Saturday. The link will be posted on EdgewoodCollegeEagles.com. Edgewood College will videocast and provide live stats for most home games.

It has been a long time since Edgewood College and St. John's University have met on the baseball field. In their only meeting in history, St. John's swept Edgewood College 11-5 and 18-3 in a doubleheader played on March 14, 1996. The Eagles and Johnnies played those two games in Fort Myers, Florida. Edgewood College evened up the all-time series at six wins apiece with a doubleheader sweep over Augsburg College last season in the Metrodome. Going back to 2008, the Eagles have won three of the last four meetings. Six of the 12 all-time meetings have been decided by one run.
