VERONA, Wis. – Baseball hosted a double feature at Stampfl Field Thursday. They hosted the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons for Veteran's Appreciation Day and Resident's Hall Night. The Eagles (15-11, 9-5 NACC) run ruled the Falcons (15-15, 11-5) 16-3 in game one, but Concordia Wisconsin struck back with an 8-3 final in game two.
GAME ONE: EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 16, CONCORDIA WISCONSIN 3
- A four run first sparked things for the Eagles, with
Mac Vesperman and
Carter Kelley posting RBI singles before
Ben Truby hit a double to left center. While a solo shot to left center put the Falcons on the board in the second, a pair of runs would cross home for Edgewood University in the second, including an
Aidan Kammer RBI double.
- The Falcons tacked on a pair in the third, but a five-run fifth and sixth would all but close the book on the game. A bases loaded walk from
Kyle Prindle would start the action in the fifth, before
Charlie Tompach cleared the bases with a triple down the right field line and
Hayden Hellenbrand brought home Tompach with a single through the left side.
-
Jacob Carney doubled to left field to kick off the runs in the sixth. A
Kyle Prindle sacrifice fly and a wild pitch added on two more, before RBI singles from Hellenbrand and Kammer wrapped up the scoring.
- Tor posted a strong outing, tossing all seven innings and striking out nine. He allowed two earned runs and a walk.
- Hellenbrand hit 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs.
Carter Kelley swung 3-for-4 with three runs.
GAME TWO: CONCORDIA WISCONSIN 8, EDGEWOOD UNIVERSITY 3
- A three-run third from the Falcons opened the scoring, a pair of singles putting the visitors on the board first. Tompach erased the deficit with one swing, clearing loaded bases with a double to right field.
- A single up the middle and a bases loaded walk put a pair on for Concordia Wisconsin in the fifth. A home run in the sixth and a home run in the ninth from Jack Anzelmo all but put things out of reach for the Eagles.
- Easton Oliver shined in 7.1 innings pitched for the Falcons. He fanned nine and allowed three earned runs while walking no one. Tyler Bartczak closed the door on Edgewood University with three strikeouts in the ninth.
- Carney hit 2-for-4.
Dominic Lee posted a pair of walks.
-
Cole Pulliam struck out five in four innings of relief for the Eagles.
