MONMOUTH, Ill. – A day after the Knox College Invitational was cancelled due to lightning, the Edgewood College women's golf team came out strong. The Eagles shot 27 strokes better than their previous best round of 408. Every Edgewood College golfer shot their best round of the season as the team shot a combined 381 to tie for 7th at the Monmouth College Invitational.
At the one day tournament, the Eagle's Emilee Guderyon led the way with an 88 to finish tied for 15th, seven strokes behind the leader. Freshman Alice Whalen carded a 97 while Melanie Chang and Mary Moore each followed with a 98. Jedlicka Syndey rounded out the top five for Edgewood College shooting a 123.
Mount Mercy University shot a 343 to take first place in the 14 team field. Augustana finished just five strokes behind them with a 348. Elmhurt's Ashley Beverage and Milikin University's Gabbi Schuermann each shot an 81 to take the top honors.
Edgewood College will travel to St. Andrews Golf and Country Club for a two day tournament beginning on September 15 for the Benedictine University Fall Invitational.
