DELAVAN, Wis. – The first day of competition at the UW-Whitewater Fall Classic was canceled due to rain, but nothing was going to stop the ten team field from completing the tournament on Saturday. Edgewood College and the rest of the field battled the cold as the Eagles shot a 399 to finish ninth of 10 teams.

Although the Eagles broke 400 for the fourth consecutive round, they could not catch the rest of the pack on Saturday. Freshman Alice Whalen led Edgewood College with a 97, shooting a 49 on the front nine and a 48 on the back to tie for 37th in the 56 player field. Mary Moore followed closely with a 99, but no other Eagle golfer was able to break 100. Emilee Guderyon shot an even 100 while Melanie Chang was three strokes behind her with a 103. Sydney Jedlicka carded her best round of the year with a 109 which was nine strokes lower than her previous best.

Host school UW-Whitewater cruised to a victory by shooting a 319 which was 26 strokes better than Carroll University, the next closest.  Nicole Westcott of UW-Whitewater was the medalist after shooting a 37 on the front nine and a 38 after the turn for a 75.

Edgewood College will compete next weekend in the NAC Championship at Ridges and Sand Creek Golf Club in Joran, Minnesota. This will be a three day even from September 29 to October 1.
