WEST CHICAGO, Ill. – Four of the five Edgewood College women golfers improved their first day scores on the second day of the Benedictine University Fall Invitational. The Eagles placed fifth of nine teams with a team score of 741. Emily Guderyon fired a 92 on day one followed by an 84 to tie for 16th with a team best 176.
After day one of the tournament, the Eagles sat in sixth place, sixteen strokes behind fifth place Benedictine. Every single Edgewood College golfer shot their lowest round of the season on Sunday to push the Eagles ahead of the Stars in the final standings. Guderyon's Saturday score of 84 was four strokes better than her previous season low of 88. Alice Wahlen shot a 93 on day one and followed with an 88 on Sunday to tie her for 22nd with a 181. Wahlen's two day score was 30 strokes better than her previous collegiate best.
Melanie Change improved her lowest 36-hole score by 27 strokes with a 189 and Mary Moore also shot her lowest collegiate two day total with a 195. Sydney Jedlicka rounded out the team with her collegiate best of 241.
Augustana College and Robert Morris University tied with a 674 atop the leaderboard. Augustana defeated Robert Morris in a playoff to win the Benedictine University Fall Invitational. Nina Puch from Concordia University Wisconsin was the medalist with a two day total of 155.
The Eagles will hit the links again this weekend when they compete at the UW-Whitewater Invitational. This two day tournament will take place on Friday and Saturday in Janesville, Wisconsin.
